I was born in France to Sara and Michel Cerf. When I was young we moved to Israel. In Israel I joined the "School of Arts" where I got to study Acting, Filming, Music, Drawing, and Dancing.
This led to my appearing in some TV shows, and after a while - to writing scripts for those.

While doing those I have pursued several paths in parallel. I
have finished my air pilot studies for both single and
multi engine airplanes. In addition I completed a cliff climbing course. I enjoy playing the piano. |
|
| |
In high-school I studied Physics and Computer Science. I wrote my major essay on the topic of "Artificial
Intelligence". My practice in the field of A.I. and my mathematical and
language skills led to my being accepted into a
special unit in the Israeli Defense Force's Intelligence. |
| |
In the Intelligence I worked on mathematical and
algorithmically-oriented projects in fields related to cryptanalysis and
security. |

After finishing my army duty I started working while studying in
the Tel-Aviv university. I studied Physics for my Bachelors degree and earned my Masters in Philosophy of Science. My thesis subject was "The search for a scientific explanation to
Consciousness", under the supervision of Prof.(Brigadere Gen.) Isaac
Ben-Israel.
Because of my thesis being somewhat interdisciplinary I was able to study
both the sciences and the arts, resulting in a thorough education in Computer Science, Film & Television, Philosophy, Psychology, Literature,
History, Biology, Medicine, Languages, and Law (in some of the above I
am very close to being eligible for a degree, but never cared to pursue
such).
Off-campus I have studied drawing, acting, and writing. |

After finishing my M.A. I began my PhD in the "Brain Sciences"
(Computational Neuroscience) under the supervision of Avshalom Elitzur.
Together we are hoping to find a way to fine-tune the definition of the 'Hard problem of consciousness' into something that science can study.
Currently I am doing my research in the Klab at Caltech (Los
Angeles, California), with Christof
Koch as my advisor.
Still interested in consciousness, we are performing Single-Cell recordings from live
subjects at the UCLA hospital while trying to understand the
underlying aspects of brain mechanisms.
This work is done in collaboration with the Neurosurgery department at UCLA, with Dr. Itzhak Fried at the Cognitive Neurophysiology Lab.
Being
interested in Social behavior recently - I started working on a NeuroEconomics project
with Colin
Camerer.
Classes I was teaching/assistant at Caltech include CNS100, CNS187, CNS102 and
currently I am doing CNS120 -
"The Neuronal Basis of Consciousness" |

While studying I worked in several Hi-Tech companies: LogOn, Check Point, TTI, and iMPERVA as a programmer, team
leader, customer technical trainer, manager of internal training and Senior
Security Consultant. I also worked partly as an Inventor in an
Inventions company called SIT, and was teaching at the university and in some other institutes. |
|
| |
I used to write for several Hi-Tech journals from time to time and
was experimenting with the editing, shooting, and directing of films, as well as with writing, and music recording.
Recently I got to play with some animation and graphics programs - having taken some classes in the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Los
Angeles. I am
currently taking the "3D Games development" program there. |

Liking the idea of doing a lot at the very
same time, I spent some time during my studies serving 3 years as a representative at my University's Student Council.
Advancing inside the council I became a member of the Senate's Committee in
charge of academic programs, a member of the tender committee, and Vice President of the council.
During my high-school studies I operated a radio station, and was a
member of the municipal student council.
I was a trainer in the boy-scouts for 3 years, and was a trainee myself for
4 more years.
I speak Hebrew, English, and French, and studied some Chinese, and Czech. |
| |
In
short - I did it all. And yet - I am not
satisfied... |
